The Volkswagen Passat is a good car. It offers a large trunk, roomy cabin, and well-mannered ride. It falls down, however, in important areas. It has some low-rent cabin materials, it’s less athletic than many rivals, and it lacks any engine upgrades. Also, the Passat’s fuel economy estimates are some of the worst in the midsize car class.
