BMW 5 SERIES,

Overview

The BMW 5 Series is an excellent car. Few class rivals can match its performance due to its potent engines, nimble handling, and smooth ride. It even gets good fuel economy ratings. The 5 Series has a posh interior, with plenty of space in both rows of seats and the trunk, and there are lots of standard features, including an intuitive infotainment system.

Inside

This BMW seats five people. The seats are comfortable, roomy, and supportive. The cabin is attractive and replete with premium materials. It gives 18.7 cubic feet of cargo room. The 530e plug-in hybrid has a reduced capacity of 14.5 cubic feet because of the extra space needed for its battery pack. The 5 Series’ standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, a moonroof, and BMW's iDrive infotainment system with a 10.25-inch touch screen, a touchpad controller, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a 12-speaker stereo, and navigation.

Driving

This BMW rides smoothly as well as absorbing road imperfections without disturbing its occupants. Each 5 Series trim comes with its own powertrain. The base 530i comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The 540i features a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 335 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. The base engine delivers plenty of power and solid acceleration. The 540i's turbo-six makes this BMW feel much quicker and more like a sports sedan. Three trims feature a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine, though the horsepower ratings vary. The M550i generates 523 horsepower, the M5 produces 600 horsepower and the M5 Competition puts out 617 horsepower. All three models have 553 pound-feet of torque.
