FORD EDGE,

Overview

The Ford Edge is a solid choice among midsize SUVs. The Edge boasts spry acceleration and well-mannered handling, giving it better overall performance than many class rivals. It also has plenty of passenger space and an impressive amount of cargo room for a midsize two-row SUV. Ford's infotainment system is user-friendly and easy to operate, though the graphics are a little underwhelming compared to some rivals.

Inside

The Ford Edge holds five people. Both rows of seats offer ample room for occupants and the driver's seat provides good all-around outward visibility. Cloth upholstery and a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat come standard. There is option of synthetic or genuine leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, driver's seat memory settings, and a leather-wrapped, heated, and power-tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. The Ford Edge has two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats.

Driving

The Ford Edge has well-mannered driving attributes. It provides a comfortable ride and it eats up noticeable bumps in the road, though it can still feel a little bouncy over rough pavement. Steering is light and easy, though that translates to little feedback from the road. The Edge doesn't encourage corners hard; instead, it feels planted and composed. The Edge gets a good amount of power from its base engine and critics generally agree that the transmission is smooth and refined. However, the Edge can feel a little underpowered at higher speeds. The Edge ST model has better acceleration, but it can suffer from turbo lag.
