NISSAN FIGARO,

Overview

This vehicle has a 2 door sedan/saloon type body with a front located engine that delivers power to the front wheels. The Nissan Figaro is one of the FK10 model family from Nissan. The 1 litre engine is a turbocharged, single overhead camshaft, 4 cylinder unit that produces 76 bhp (77 PS/57 kW) of power at 6000 rpm, and maximum torque of 106 N·m (78 lb·ft/10.8 kgm) at 4400 rpm. The engine drives the wheels via a 3 speed automatic gearbox. It claimed weight at the kerb is 810 kg.

Inside

The Figaro was luxuriously equipped, with leather seats, air conditioning, CD player and an opening fabric roof. The white interior and seats are covered in leather with contrasting piping. A special paint is used on top of the dashboard to make it feel soft, while a flat instrument panel places two large chrome-trimmed dials in front of the driver. The left one is the speedometer with smaller inset gauges for fuel and engine temperature; the right a tachometer with a small inset clock. The climate controls feature a chrome back plating, four sliders, and Bakelite-style knobs that resemble flower buds. There is a cassette deck, INXS tapes as well as a CD player.

Driving

T A 1.0-liter turbocharged version of Nissan’s four-cylinder engine generates 76 horsepower and 78 pound-feet of torque through a three-speed automatic transmission. The chassis employs McPherson struts up front and a four-link coil spring suspension at the rear. Steering is rack and pinion, stopping is courtesy of front ventilated discs and rear drums. It’s a very manoeuvrable city car and it is easy to park. The Figaro’s granny-thin steering wheel is on the right side of the cabin, meaning its turn signals are on the right-hand stalk and the windshield wipers are on the left-hand stalk.
