PEUGEOT 207 SW,

Overview

The SW is a decent addition to the 207 range. It has more space for passengers and luggage than the five-door, and neat standard features such as the panoramic glass roof make it a stylish load-lugger. The driving experience is capable and the engine range strong, particularly the punchy diesels.

Inside

The Peugeot 207 SW has a clear and easy-to-use dash and a comfortable driving position. All the important buttons and switches are easy to reach and simple to use on the move, especially for the heating and the stereo. The seat adjusts in a number of ways and the steering can be adjusted for height and reach. All-round visibility is good and there's a pleasant and airy feel which can be increased thanks to the standard panoramic sunroof. Every 207 used to be fitted with a panoramic sunroof, which runs from the top of the windscreen to mid-way through the roof, but only the top Allure trim has this as standard now. It makes for an exceptionally bright interior, though an electric blind is fitted for shade in the summer.

Driving

The Peugeot has pleasing handling and a well judged ride as well as accurate steering and a tight turning circle. It comes across as a very capable car. While the petrol engines are decent around town, they are a bit noisy. The HDi diesels are superb, quiet and responsive, with the 1.6-litre engines being linear, vibration-free and refined. The biggest downside is that all models suffer from a very vague gearshift.
